Manitoba Urban Search and Rescue

Manitoba Task Force 4

Manitoba Urban Search and Rescue Team CAN TF-4 is comprised of over 150 members. A typical response would include 50 - 60 personel working under the following six major functional components:

  • Search
  • Rescue
  • Incident Command
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Planning & Technical Information
  • Logistics

By design, there are two (ideally three) personnel assigned to each position, to accommodate sickness, holidays, and for the rotation and relief of personnel to allow for around the clock operations. A comprehensive equipment cache supports the Team.

Team members include structural engineers, hazardous material specialists, heavy rigging specialists, search specialists (including highly trained search dogs), communication specialists, logistics specialists, medical specialists (paramedics) and two physicians.

  • Provincial Government i.e. Conservation, Health, Corrections
  • Government and NGO’s with engineers, structural specialists
  • Municipal public works
  • Private heavy equipment contractors
