Fire & Life Safety Education Advisory Committee

The Fire and Life Safety Advisory Committee was formed in September 1998. The Committee has representation from all areas of Manitoba and meets three times a year.

The Committee is mandated to provide the Office of the Fire Commissioner with:

  • advice and recommendations on public education initiatives with a Provincial perspective to contribute to the reduction in the frequency and severity of fires and injuries in Manitoba
  • a forum to assist in disseminating public education material and messages throughout a Province to build knowledge, influence attitudes and change behaviours to reduce the number and severity of fires and their concequences in all areas of Manitoba
  • asistance in promoting public education/prevention initiatives at the local and/or regional level
  • advice and recommendations to recognize and reduce gaps in public education/prevention based on the Office of the Fire Commissioner's statistical data
