National Burn Awareness Week will be held February 2nd - 8th, 2025 which is a time set aside for organizations and educators to unite in sharing a common burn and fire awareness preventioin message.
The Manitoba Firefighters’ Burn Fund, Manitoba Association of Fire Chiefs, Manitoba government and the Office of the Fire Commissioner will partner once again and hold a Poster Contest for kids grades 5 – 8 in Manitoba. One winner per grade level has a chance to win a $200.00 Gift Card from Toys “R” Us, a cheque from the Firefighters’ Burn Fund for $200.00 for their teacher to use in the classroom on whatever they like, as well as fire and life safety education material for each of the winners classmates.
The contest is open to any student residing in Manitoba from grade 5 through to grade 8.
Students can participate on their own without the participation of a school.
Winning posters are based on age-appropriate skill, and will be judged on message and content. Judges are respresntatives from the Firefighters’ Burn Fund, Office of the Fire Commissioner, Manitoba Association of Fire Chiefs, and Winnipeg Fire Department and decisions are final.
It's Easy!
Poster artwork must be original and represent a burn prevention/fire safety message and on 8 ½ x 11 paper. One entry per student.
Your poster must be authentic and not similar to any posters submitted to the Burn Awareness Week Poster contest from previous years.
Print your first and last name on the BACK of your drawing, and include your school name, town/city, your grade and teacher’s name.
All posters must be postmarked no later than Friday March 28, 2025.
Winners will be notified by April 25, 2025.
