K-9 Search Specialist for Structural Collapse
40 Hours

Prerequisite: None.

Course Description: This course is designed as an introduction to all aspects of Canine Search and Rescue training from GSAR Ground Search and Rescue to Urban Search and Rescue.

This Course will include some classroom theory as well as practical training with dogs on every day.

This Course will include:

• K-9 Psychology

• Theory of Scent

• Tracking

• Air Scenting

• Obedience

• Agility

• Directed Search

• Indications

This Course is designed to help prepare a Canine team for all aspects of Search and Rescue. It is designed to meet the requirements of the Canadian Urban Search and Rescue Disaster Search Canine Certification Guidelines. This course is open to members of any government run canine program.

Certification: Candidates will be issued a certificate upon successful completion. Full attendance is mandatory for completion.
